Contract accounting is subjective and easy to get wrong, but getting it this wrong smacks of very senior people protecting their bonuses… I’ve made some tough decisions as a financial controller, fortunately always preferring conservative accounting… I only hope if junior staff were put under pressure they applied the standard operating procedure: write to the boss with your concerns, print a copy of it, save a copy on a disc. Keep both off-site and safe…
