All About Al

Ali Abbas is a storyteller, photographer, and carpenter from London. He has travelled widely but still lives in the suburb where he was born.

He has published two books:

“Image and Other Stories”, a collection of seven short stories on love, loss and the haunting nature of bad decisions, a subject on which he is a self confessed expert.

and

“Hajj – My Pilgrimage” a recounting of his eventful, tragic, comedic and ultimately inspiring journey to Mecca.

You can find both through his author page on Amazon, although other reputable booksellers also carry both titles.

His love letter to London “An Absolute Amount of Sadness” has been published by Mad Scientist Journal in its “Fitting In” anthology.

On this blog you will find miscellaneous new writing,  photos, and updates on his major new writing projects.

He is me, and I have no idea why I wrote all that in the third person.

I hope you are well. I found your blog and work through Brokenlight Collective. I’ve been emailing with Danielle — the creator of the project — to ask if she was interested in partnering on a project that I’m doing.

At the end of March, in NYC, I’m hosting an event called the Faces of Mental Illness. It’s an art show with most of the pieces created by Ray Ferrer to benefit a foundation I set up called The Benny Fund (bennyfund.org) . I’m also going to have a section to highlight some photographs and am working on a video installation.

I was wondering if you wanted to submit any photographs for the video installation. It will be playing during the art show for people to see. I want to include all different types of photos of people affected by mental illness (the good, bad, beautiful).

If you have any interest please let me know. I wish you all the best and have enjoyed looking through your blog.

    • Thanks.
I have traced my third person schizophrenia to the point at which I wrote the back cover material for my first book. I then copied that into the About page of my blog, and now it has a life and momentum all its own, and every time I edit it I’m writing about some other bloke.

  2. Hey there Newbie Spikey!
(for your info, a Spikey is the term for folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

I wanted to catch up and say “thank you… I really appreciate your ‘follow’ as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.”

Blogging since June 2013, my aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations, opinions and lighter-hearted stuff thrown in for good measure.

I normally keep to a couple of posts a day, maybe 3-4 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…
